It started out as an innocent joke. "Fam, if I started a lettuce club, would y'all join" we Yakked. We didn't think we would get many responses, but still, we waited, watching Yik Yack and procrastinating on the assignments already building up from the FWOC. Then it happened. People started to respond. They picked up on the idea, and soon, it exploded. Lettuce lovers united around campus, flooding Yik Yack with puns and various lettuce photos.
"I really hope this lettuce thing works lol it could be a legendary school tradition," one read. "Lettuce know when the first meeting starts so we can head over," another responded. "Yes. No questions asked, yes," one exclaimed. "Kik?" another questioned. By the time we read
"The founder of the lettuce club wasn't the hero we deserved, but the hero we needed," we knew what we had to do.
And thus it was born, the UNC lettuce club. So welcome. Welcome to the age of revolution, of new tradition, of lettuce. Welcome, and come with us as we go where UNC has never gone before. Welcome to the Lettuce Club.
